Maker Faire!

Yoda Finger Puppet!
My husband and I are thinking of attending this GREAT sounding Faire in the Bay Area this weekend called: Maker Faire. We've never been but, hear it's great! Whilst perusing the programs listed, I found this little gem: "Star Wars Sock Puppet Craft" I do not know HOW this can possibly top the GREATEST "Star Wars" sock puppet show(s)* EVER but, I want to go! Right now!! The craft is hosted by Bonnie Burton. You can see a really great Yoda finger puppet (pictured above) on Starwars.com.

* The absolute end-all-greatest-ever "Star Wars" Sock Puppet show(s) I've EVER seen were performed on Angel Island in SF and for a SFBAPG Guild challenge.

Guild Meeting

Paper automotons

For the Guild meeting part of the day, Guild members brought puppets for the display table. Guild member Kathy brought these GREAT paper puppets! They're kits you can build! I thought they were amazing!

Here's a close-up of the Grumpy Goat!

Whew! Busy week!

Lion eyes

I'm back from rehearsals in LA! YAY! First show tomorrow! And I am looking forward to it!

Sorry for the post interuption--it was hard to find the time with all the Swazzle stuff going on!

Here are a few more of the pics from those Martha Stewart Puppet Crafts I mentioned...AGES ago!

The more I used them, the less I like them. All the little felt bits kept falling off and I eventually had to resort to glue...UGH!

The designs were very cute, the packs did include EVERYTHING to make the puppets but, the amount of frustration involved was very high. I wouldn't recommend them but, did enjoy looking at them.

They were too small for me to put on properly and the moment I picked them off the table, pieces fell off! HA! So, I'll post the last of those pics (I did take them, so why not?) and then I'll start posting about the shows!

YAY!

On a Froggy Day.

DSC_0025

DSC_0021

This little frog here is the most successful of the Martha Stewart Craft puppets so far. The little glue bits are sticking very well, and nothing has fallen off. YAY! I think this is due to the fact that most of the puppet uses stickers for details and not heavy felt pieces. I really like this guy. Lots of customization allowed!

Enjoy

Woof!

Puppet dog (full)

Here's the little puppy from the kit. Same problems--ears keep falling off. Paws fall off! Not really living up to the hype! Once I attaked it with a glue stick, it worked fine.

Still, very cute! Not easy though (would be frustrating for wee ones to try to make or play with w/o the generous use of glue).

Pig, Pig, Pig, Pig...having fun!

Pig pieces

Here are the bits and pieces from one of the paper bag puppets from Martha Stewart Crafts! This one is for a little piggy! The little kits include everything you need to make the puppet! All the pieces are stuck together with adhesive...which is a little worrying...we'll see how it goes when they're finished.

Piggy hands

I do love that the little bags are colored to match the animals...although these bags are TINY! Def for little hands.
