Get thee to Puppetvision!

Andrew over at Puppetvision posted this awesome video of Raymond Crowe, a puppeteer from Australia, performing THE most amazing hand shadow show EVER! Set to "It's a Wonderful World". Go see it RIGHT NOW!

Many Thanks to Elizabeth Luce for forwarding this to me today (via I Am Bored). But, as Andrew posted this a bit ago, I wanted to make sure to send over to him!

Learning to Move

After a guick jaunt down south to meet our newest puppeteers, I thought it was time to resume posting! Finishing up the photos from the Guild Meeting Swazzle performed at.

Mike shows Props
Guild member Mike Wick taught a workshop on hand puppet movement for the Guild. In this photo he was discussing using a prop with your hand puppet and ways you could move to get different actions: Comical, moving the prop in ways to garner laughter; Difficult, meaning ways to move that show the action is physically demanding and Simple, just moving in a natural way. Very cool.

Mike Demo's

Here he was talking about posture and walking. I can't really do this justice without video (someday!).

Movement

That's it for today. Sorry for the big gap in posts! I'll be MUCH better now that I'm back at home!

Whew! Busy week!

Lion eyes

I'm back from rehearsals in LA! YAY! First show tomorrow! And I am looking forward to it!

Sorry for the post interuption--it was hard to find the time with all the Swazzle stuff going on!

Here are a few more of the pics from those Martha Stewart Puppet Crafts I mentioned...AGES ago!

The more I used them, the less I like them. All the little felt bits kept falling off and I eventually had to resort to glue...UGH!

The designs were very cute, the packs did include EVERYTHING to make the puppets but, the amount of frustration involved was very high. I wouldn't recommend them but, did enjoy looking at them.

They were too small for me to put on properly and the moment I picked them off the table, pieces fell off! HA! So, I'll post the last of those pics (I did take them, so why not?) and then I'll start posting about the shows!

YAY!

Oscar by Gund!

Oscar

A super cute, super soft Oscar the Grouch by Gund! I adore Gund puppets! I've blogged about Gund before and I can't get enough! Gund puppets are easy to use, and the materials are always divine!

Applause used to have the license for Sesame Street toys. Well, they did when I worked at Puppets on the Pier...many years ago!

Enjoy!
